Motorcycle & A.T.V Patrol

The Panama City Beach Police Department currently has three Harley Davidson Motorcycles.  This unit is primarily used for traffic control during the summer season as well as escorts during parades and funerals.  The Panama City Beach Police Department has provided the service of motorcycle patrol since 1998.  This type of patrol has been an excellent tool for law enforcement.  It's agility and maneuverability demonstrates its value in the high traffic areas around the cities many resorts and businesses, providing a rapid response time regardless of traffic flow.  The motorcycles also allow officers access to the many footpaths used by the many visitors to our area, which may be inaccessible to traditional emergency vehicles.  The unique qualities of the motorcycle also make it useful in providing special services such as motorcade escorts for ceremonies, parades, and funerals.

The Motorcycle Patrol consists of three Harley-Davidson motorcycles equipped with a special police package.  There are two uniformed patrol officers who have completed an extensive training program offered through the Institute of Police Technology and Management.  During this intense training, the officers are drilled in high-speed braking and accident avoidance and are trained to use the motorcycle to its fullest capabilities with emphasis on low-speed maneuvers.  The motorcycle patrol has become an integral part of the services provided by the Panama City Beach Police Department.
